The project aimed to develop a Flood and Debris Flow Control Master Plan for the Madarsoo River Basin, which is an essential international corridor to neighboring countries, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, and also holds religious significance as a sacred holy place for Shiite Muslims in Mashhad. This project helped to improve flood and debris flow control measures in the Madarsoo River Basin to enhance resilience and protect critical infrastructure, including the international highway and religious sites, from future flood and debris flow events.
