Health care waste (HCW) is an inevitable by-product of health services delivered by the facility, including in response to a global pandemic like COVID-19. Minimizing the adverse effects of widespread health interventions on human health and assisting in environmental protection require sustainable health care waste management (HCWM). Objectives are to assess the HCWM status in Nepal, build the capacity on HCWM including GESI considerations and operation and maintenance (O & M) of HCW treatment technologies, assist local level/municipality for integrated HCWM, and assist in awareness building on HCWM practices, ensuring inclusivity and capacity development across the healthcare sector.
