TA-6977 REG: Strengthening Capacity to Design and Implement Climate Change Project Facility – CRLLP TA Consulting Firm (56105-001)
The proposed Climate-Resilient Landscapes and Livelihoods Project will support investments in community-led small-scale catchment, water resources, and disaster risk management (DRM) infrastructure and practices. As a planning and implementation unit, it will adopt a landscape approach on a watershed scale, including spring sheds. It will apply nature-based solutions combined with small-scale infrastructures to mitigate climate hazard risk and build resilient livelihoods. Subject to the project concept clearance and confirmation during the transaction technical assistance (TRTA), these interventions will be carried out under three outputs: (i) catchment management and DRM infrastructure and practices developed; (ii) naturebased livelihoods enhanced; and (iii) capacities on climate change adaptation strengthened. These outputs will result in the following outcome: climate resilience and water security of communities built in Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. The project will be aligned with the following impact: risk of climate change impacts of people and ecosystems reduced. Outputs, activities, and corresponding design and monitoring framework of the project will be continuously developed until loan approval. The project will adopt a spatial cluster approach delineated by the most vulnerable watersheds and municipalities and will consider the available economic opportunities in these provinces. A project of $35 million is included as a firm project in the Asian Development Bank (ADB’s) 2023 lending pipeline for Nepal.
