Preparation of River Basin Plans and Hydropower Development Master Plans and Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment Project (World Bank Credit No 4515-NP; H902-NP for IWRMP and Grant No. TF18570-NP for PSRSHDP) Singha Durbar, Kathmandu
Sponsored by Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS), Government of Nepal (GON) & World Bank (WB)
The project aimed to prepare river basin plans and hydropower development master plans with a focus on strategic environmental and social assessment for the entire nation. The services provided by the experts encompassed a comprehensive review of available information on physiographic features, ground and surface water resources, climate, precipitation, and river flows, verifying the data for different river basins and sub-basins. In order to achieve project’s objectives, the team utilized advanced hydrological modeling tools, including the physically based distributed hydrological model MIKE SHE, the one-dimensional river flow simulation model MIKE 11, and the river basin modeling and planning tool MIKE HYDRO BASIN.
