The project aimed to develop an optimal water use model for Kathmandu Valley, focusing on the conjunctive use of surface and groundwater to achieve efficient sectoral water allocation. The objectives included setting up a physically based distributed hydrological model and a water allocation and river basin management model to consider different scenarios, including pre and post Melamchi periods. The project came across an advanced water use model that considered the conjunctive use of surface and groundwater resources, allowing for informed decision-making to optimize sectoral water allocation in Kathmandu Valley, promoting efficient and sustainable water management in the region.
